CATARACTS SURGERY

Cataracts occur when the naturally clear lens inside your eye becomes opaque and cloudy. This eye disorder affects the vision two-fold:

• The opacity restricts light from passing completely through the eye.
• The natural lens automatically changes shape to assist us in focusing on close-up images.
  
  

The cloudiness of a cataract is caused by the liquid protein in the lens becoming harder. When this happens, the lens is unable to change shape adequately, and near focus is affected. Cataracts form slowly over a long time and you might not be aware that you've a cataract forming until it starts affecting your vision, such as blurry vision that cannot be corrected by a pair of glasses. Other symptoms include nighttime driving difficulty, multiple images in one eye, and glare.

Here at Dynamic Medical Centre, our ophthalmic consultant/cataract surgeon provides cataract surgery to restore your vision. It is an outpatient procedure whereby we remove the cloudy natural lens of the eye and replace it with a clear intraocular lens implant.
